I know all true Cubs fans are  upset, but come on we love our Cubs . No matter what/ or how they do we still believe next year will be our year. I personally believe that this years team had too much pressure on them to succeed. Going to the park/ on the road and having to hear about the 100 year thing everyday that  had to be rough trying to live up to those expectations everyday. Sure i know they get paid big money top play a little boys game, but pressure is pressure. All i hope is for the off season, is for the Cubs to acquire a true centerfielder, and a true leadoff hiter and have our pitchers go to spring training and be quiet on the world series talk. Just play the game and let the chips fall where they may.

I agree with you on that, I was born a Cub/Red Sox fan and I will die a Cub/Red Sox fan. One thing the Cubs should do is fix the starting rotation. They got Big Z,Dempster, and Harden the top 3 three aces of the staff. Now the way I see it if the Mets don't resign Santana and the Brewers don't resign C.C.(which they will be stupid if they don't) the Cubs should go after them, then the Cubs will have a killer starting lineup. Looking at the free agent list alot of good names are are their, the Cubs need an infielder like at SS, Micky was good but the cubs need someone with speed, the Tigers released Rentera, they should go after him. He has so so power but he has good speed, good enough to put him leadoff. I say the Cubs need to do what they did to get Alfonso, SPEND!!!!!!!

talladaga, if the Cubs SPEND, how much are you willing to SPEND to go watch them play a little boy's game?! They have no excuses, the jinxs are long gone. The goat and the owner of the Billy Goat tavern were let into Wrigley Field on Opening Day I believe in 1984 as a goodwill gesture to reverse the curse. (If I am wrong on the year someone please do correct me.) There has not been a black cat on the field since 1969 and that bad luck scenario has already played out. For all the $$$$ that these "professional major league" Cubs make I cannot believe that they have not found the right sports psychologist, priest, or whatever it takes to get to the NLCS. I WAS a lifelong Cubs fan but after two years of nonsense in the NLDS I have no interest. These teams owe the fans at least a public apology but I would imagine that most of them don't feel the need to even stop and sign autographs after a game.

They need to follow an example from my favorite all-time team, the mid-70's Oakland A's who almost went on strike in the middle of the 1973 World Series but changed their minds because they felt that they owed it to their fans to continue to play:

rendezvous is right! Let's stop making excuses for these ovetpaid ballplayers. Cub fans should stop attending the games at Wrigly and watch them on TV if they must. Every year is a new excuse and we are so quick to forgive---not this fan. I am tired of babying grown men. Don't you think Tampa Bay is under a lot of pressure to , and these young men are handling it quite good for being in the post season ever----while the Cubs have veterans who have been there before. These Cubs looked like a bunch of comfused cows out in the field---they completly forgot how to play baseball. They were completly stunned like deer at night when they see headlights. Get rid of the overpaid premadona---Carlos Sombrano, the useless Marquis and make a bid for CC. and while we are at it , lets get rid of the GM Henry who picked up the overrated Pinela. Let's stop signing ageing and damaged players and while we are at it let's reconcider Soriano---we are stocked with him until 2014 I belive. Oh yea ! It's all good on paper at the beginning of the season, we get our hopes build up and it's more of the same at the end of the season. Let's not fool ourselves anymore Cub fans, these players care less how we feel. They make excuses for not going further in the post season---they go thru their insincere I am sorry routine , collect their fat paychecks and head out of town to their fancy homes until next year for more of the same!!!

Ozzie said it best: f..k the Cubs. I submit the problem with the Cubs isn't the players: it's a cocktail of the fans, the park, and management. Cub fans go to games looking for face time, to see and be seen, drink some Dog Style beer in the sunshine and stare at the chickadees in tank tops and short shorts. They couldn't care less about the game. It's fashionable to be a Cub fan. And management KNOWS this. How much were bleacher seats this year? Even the apartments across Waveland and Sheffield need to ante up to watch perpetual underachievers. Ownership has one goal: make a profit. If they happen to get to the playoffs, that's a cash bonus. The sickness that befalls the team is an extension of management and the yuppified fan base. And no visiting team is afraid to play in Wrigley in the fall. It's cold, the wind blows in, and those hot bats and incredible winning home record don't mean squat come cold weather time. That the Cubs lost isn't a surprise. That anyone believes they are the best team in the NL, much less the entire league, is.

well said hafmx, being a Cubs fan in the 21st century is not about
cheering for a winner or being concerned about whether the Cubs win or lose. It is all about being fashionable and trendy and sometimes even bragging about paying top dollar to watch a bunch of losers play a game.

A Chicago comedian once joked that CUBS stands for "Could you beat somebody".

How do you explain why a team like the Rays had trouble drawing this season even though they led the AL East for most of the season? I mean, you can't knock fans for going out and watching a ballgame when the team is winning. The Cubs fans care about the team winning or they would not show up every day. Near the end of the 2006 season, there were hardly any sellouts at Wrigley. I remember seeing games where the bleachers were not even full. Why? Because the Cubs had a 90-loss season in 2006. The fans did not come out in droves then because the team sucked. The team is good and the fans are out, yet people have a problem with it?

noone said there is any logic to it. Charlie Finley sure was creative with handlebar moustaches, the first team to wear white shoes, orange baseballs, and endless gameday promotions. His mid-70's dynasty team won won five division titles, three consecutive pennants and World Series and they constantly
struggled with attendance. Rarely did those teams play in front of a full house during the regular season.

Historically, the Cubs don't have to play much above .500 baseball and the fans go crazy thinking that the team is a lay down to win the division and of course the World Series. Then they show up for the games no matter what the price may be and as hafmx said management knows this. I personally have seen fist fights in the line to the ticket window at Wrigley Field for day of game seats. Things like that and the cost of going to a game today I do have a problem with.

Hafmx must be a White Sox fan. Most Cubs fans want a championship and they go to the Cubs games to see the game, not be seen. Typical comments from a White Sox fan with that inferiority complex because the Sox always will be the number 2 baseball team in the city. And there are yuppies everywhere. I am sick about this Cubs team like all the other "real" Cubs fans. I just couldn't become a White Sox fan. I would still be worrying about the Cubs.

Tony please don't become a White Sox fan, you might end up like this:

Rendezvous don't worry,I won't end up like that guy,even I am as pissed as he is(or was). Like I said,if I became

Pressed wrong button. Anyway, if I became a White Sox fan, I would still be worrying about the Cubs, I would think the only words in the vocabulary are "he" and "gone", believe everythying the tv play-by-play guy is saying even though he is flat out lying about what's going on (WE CAN SEE IT!), blame everyone and thing when the Sox lose except their own team. We deserve the championship not those bandwagon-jumpers. I think I had to tell my White Sox friends that their team were in and won the World Series in 2005. No wonder it's the least-watched World Series in history.

In reading some of these blogs, I find it hard to believe some of these Cub "fans". Carlos Sombrano??? Seriously? Don't you mean Carlos Zambrano? The Tigers releasing "Rentera"? Seriously? What about Edgar Renteria? And If the Mets don't resign Santana? Seriously? Um, he's signed for the next 5 years so I don't think you'll be seeing him in a Cubs uniform anytime soon. The Cubs will always have that loser tag, they're just not so lovable anymore. If it didn't happen this year, it's never going to happen.
